How to write an article review

You have three main goals in your article review:
       1.  to explain what the article is about to those who haven't read it,

Give a brief synopsis, including some background on the topic of the article.  Has the issue or debate it discusses been
around forever, or is it new?  Is the article straight-up news, or does it have a strong editorial component?  Is it one-sided,
or does it present multiple points of view?  Is it written by someone in that country, or abroad, and does that seem to
matter in the reporting?  Make it clear why this particular topic is important.

       2.  to explain why the article is important,
Why did you choose this particular article about the topic?  Was it original, complex, principled, fact-heavy, etc.?
What does this article contribute to the debate on this issue--what new ground does it cover?
Why did you choose this topic?

       3.  to convince your classmates to read your article.
Write clearly!  Proofread for spelling and style!  Pretend like this is your job--which it is in this course--to get people to
read your article, as if you're a journalist or editor.

Remember, your article reviews are due by Wednesday noon!
